Celebration Weekend

The Community of Reconciliation Celebration Weekend marks the second anniversary of the Community since its inaugural blessing by the Most Rev. Desmond Tutu. The weekend features a constellation of gatherings and events designed to deepen relationships, foster spiritual renewal, honor the intention of friends and colleagues, and celebrate milestones. Attend any or all of the Celebration gatherings, as your schedule permits.

Friday, November 13

Friday evening: Experience evening prayer in the Cathedral’s Great Choir followed by a Welcome and Orientation session for the weekend.

Saturday, November 14

Saturday morning: Embark upon a Pilgrimage of Intention surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cathedral and its grounds as you reflect upon the year past and set your intentions for the year ahead.

Saturday Afternoon: Receive support and encouragement over a brown bag lunch filled with conversation and practical sharing. Attend one of several Affinity gatherings designed for Companions, the new Cohort of Companion Candidates, affinity groups in formation, and distance participants. Strengthen community and deepen relationships as we share meals together at area restaurants.

Saturday evening: Renew your spirit at a Celebration Service of Blessing and Investiture. The service honors the intention of all associated with the Community of Reconciliation, and in particular, the inaugural Companion cohort. Conclude the evening with a sparkling Celebration Reception overlooking the city with family, friends, and colleagues.

Sunday, November 15

Sunday morning: Gather in the Cathedral Center for Prayer and Pilgrimage at 9:30 am for a ceremony of blessing and sending out. All who wish will attend the 10:10 am Sunday Forum with Dean Lloyd and the Sunday Forum guest and then experience the 11:15 am Sunday worship service as a gathered part of the Community.

Attend any or all of the Celebration gatherings, as your schedule permits.

We do ask that you register for the Welcome and Orientation, Pilgrimage of Intention, Service of Blessing and Celebration, and Celebration Reception for planning and hospitality. If you are not able to register or decide at the last minute to bring an extra guest, not a problem, come on! In Benedictine tradition, all are welcomed with open arms.
