About the Rev. Lyndon Shakespeare
The Rev. Lyndon Shakespeare was called as director of program and ministry in October 2011. Formerly rector at All Saints’ Memorial Church in Navesink, New Jersey, Lyndon now serves in this senior position where be provides leadership for the Cathedral’s educational, formational, and public dialogue programs. In this role, he shapes and develops programs with specific focus on the engagement of faith and public life, Christian growth and formation, and interfaith dialogue. He is also an active participant in Cathedral activities beyond his leadership and pastoral duties with respect to the Cathedral congregation and larger Cathedral community.
A native of Australia, Lyndon originally traveled to the United States in order to pursue a degree in psychology. He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois in 1995 and worked in the field of mental health in Kansas City before entering the process for ordination. He and his family moved to Alexandria, Virginia, in 1999 where Lyndon began his studies at Virginia Theological Seminary. A dedicated theologian, Lyndon is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in a special postgraduate research program of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Archbishop’s Examination in Theology.
